is Better Ideas Faster, by Kids?

BIFKiDS is 20+ years of global enterprise innovation distilled into a platform that delivers creative problem solving experiences in schools, resources at home, and collaborations with brands in our mission to nurture every little person into their big ideas.

did we create BIFKiDS?

Education designed for last century is holding our kids back from the creativity needed to thrive in this century. We’ve created BIFKiDS to be the platform that nurtures kids into their creativity - because that’s how we future proof their futures, come what may.

"In my experience there is too much focus on getting through the curriculum including exams and having a “right” answer. BIFKiDS really enables and challenges kids to develop that creative part of their brain that can be underused and to explore a range of different possibilities with confidence and freedom. It also widens their perspective of the world and their role in it all of which is great preparation for the future."

does BIFKiDS work?

BIFKiDS is built around a process kids can learn once and replicate forever.

This process combines BIF creative disciplines from enterprise innovation, critical inquiry from education, and reflective practices that enhance learning experiences.

BIFKiDS is a project-led approach. We focus on solving for a specific problem, challenge, or opportunity. This makes BIFKiDS widely applicable and scalable - from 1 hour at home problem-solving, to term long programs in schools.

BIFKiDS works like this:

1. Start with Knowledge

Kids learn about the domain of interest - exploring first a global perspective, then narrowing to localise the particular problem or challenge of interest. This frames the challenge under ‘Localised Curriculum Design’ for place-based learning.

2. Then, Creative Problem Solving

BIFKiDS apply the new knowledge for better ideas fasterrrrrr … using their sensorial creativity, critical inquiry, and powers of imagining new solutions with hands-on making ideas real:

  1. WHAT is the local problem?

  2. Understanding WHY the local problem is happening?

  3. Creating together to have a BIF idea

  4. Making their idea(s) real to showcase both creative solution and HOW it works

3. Followed by, Presents

All BIFKiDS present their ideas - learning to confidently share their creativity in action, receiving feedback, then together celebrating their idea results.

4. Then finally, Reflect

Reflective learning helps assimilate new learning by relate it to what is already known, and adapting new knowledge into purposeful action. At the close of BIFKiDS projects we explore:

  • What worked?

  • What didn’t?

  • How could we do still better next time?

For Brands

Innovating By Kids, For Kids

Working with BIFKiDS, we help brands understand a great question, convene groups of children connected to their communities and provide a process that produces amazing results; new product ideas, communication assets, a beautiful story and a fun project.

For Educators

PLD for Educators and Kaiako

BIFKiDS has framed an elastic approach to stretch across diverse curriculum needs. Having recently been accepted under the Aotearoa New Zealand Ministry of Education PLD program for Local Curriculum Design, we’re connecting with regional Kahui Ako/Tipu Maia to explore programmatic support for Educators and Learners.

"We were looking for ways to connect and support our local community - BIFKiDS was the perfect program to work with a local school and explore unleashing kids idea superpowers to reinvent the future of power. Those ideas inspired a story that we produced and gifted back to the school. In fact, it became a bedtime favourite in the Probert house - so much so that our own Ideas Girl recently said ‘Mummy, I’m an ideas girl. Can you please write out all the modes for me so I can remember them’. Brilliant"
