How we created BIF for Young Teens

A few years back Matt was approached by global education interests in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to develop a creative curriculum for middle school.

The vision was to wrap creativity and problem solving around STEM education (science, technology, engineering and math) as part of future-proofing skills and knowledge. Having worked in this space with Cisco, Matt knew what it would take to help prepare young teens to thrive in the 21st century.

Our BIF solution came from joining dots around fandom innovation in music & film (entertainment) with education works in schools & academies:

• engage young teens emotionally

• use entertaining stories, compelling characters and creative graphics

• embed creative problem-solving

• build narrative arcs around an experiential journey

• embed creative behaviours, problem-solving and cooperation

• make technology part of the story

• humanise the technology so it becomes a collaborator

• place the story in a dystopian future in which climate change has happened

• to provide depths of creative possibility for young teens to 'save their world'

And so, Madix and the BIFBOTS was born.
